The new WWW – Are we ready to fight against it?

A new WWW has fully arrived in this world and the old WWW (World Wide Web) has to play a vital role by creating awareness to fight against this new WWW . It has hit us and it is for us to stand up and take action so that we stop it to prevail in our lives and also for our coming generations..

The new WWW is World Without Water. Today in my first blog I would like to touch this critical topic of ‘Scarcity Of Water’ which is taking a very ugly shape and has already started killing millions of people ….One can live without food for almost a month but survive no longer than a week without water. Yet, although almost half of the world's population lives in water-scarce countries..

Just look at the picture below..

This is not a picture of a remote village of Rajasthan but of Sanjay Nagar in New Delhi clicked on June 30th 2009.. If the capital of the country can have such scenes then we can imagine what are we heading towards in thew coming years if this problem is not arrested right now..

Every year close to 7 million people die due to water shortage.& to add to this now people have started fighting & even killing each other on matters like who will take the water first from the Water tanks??
Take a look at the few more pictures from other parts of the country..

These pictures tell the story of the current scenario and also indicate what is stored for us in future if we don’t rise and start doing our bit in order to conserve water. All of us are aware that we can play a part but are we doing something about it? Or do we only do something during summers and forget after that? Do we need to wait for Municipal corporations water cut approach to start acting? It is the onus & responsibility of every individual to take all measures to preserve water and ensure that it doesn’t get wasted..

Most Popular Myth regarding Water Conservation:
"Conservation will require us to make major changes in our lifestyles"
You can reduce the per-capita water use by 25% by:
1) Landscaping properly
2) Utilizing efficient plumbing fixtures
3) Repairing leaks

Look at the chart to understand the break up of water usage in our day to day life..

If we look at the graph that we can see that some of the immediate action points can be:-

a) Check all faucets, pipes and toilets for leaks.

b) Install water saving showerheads and ultra-low-flush toilets.

c) Install low flow aerator faucets.

d) Take shorter showers.

e) Never use your toilet as an ashtray or wastebasket.

f) Turn off the water while brushing your teeth or shaving.

g) Fully load your dishwasher.

h) Rinse dishes in a full sink or pan of water.

i) Wash full loads of clothes

I myself tried these things and found that we have started consuming less water at our place. Looks & sound like very ' run of the mill stuff '..But please think how much of these do we follow??

Just try & search about water preservation on net and you will get umpteen information and also startling facts about this big problem which the world is facing and one can also observe lot of action being taken by few groups & individuals ( I say few coz I still feel that majority of the population of the world is not contributing from their end !!) to conserve water.

Pay attention to water. Take care of it and then the water is going to take care of you & your coming generations !!
